Getting into Running
"I wanted to give up, blisters on my feet, been running for the past 3 hours never been in so much pain. I'd never had so much doubt about anything in my entire life. But I knew if I didn't complete the marathon, for myself, my life would never change." (Dion Porter on his first marathon in 2013). Dion decided he was sick of the life that he was living, and he wanted to do something about it, wanted to change. He got up, got out and went for a run, little did he know how hard it really was. Dion completed his marathon at an above average time for his age at 3 hours and 33 minutes. Getting started is always going to be the hardest part about running, it takes physical strength, but more importantly, mental strength. "Running pushes you to your limits, makes you question whether you are really good enough to do it, to change", Dion added. Everyone can do it, and with the help of our website and magazine issue, you can gain all the help and information you need to get the best welcome in the world of running and get to the same place as Dion.
